The run of back luck continues in MotoGP as, after the difficulties involved in transferring the material from Mandalika to Termas de Rio Hondo, a situation that forced Dorna to revise the entire weekend schedule, there are now delays in the delivery of materials to Austin too, the stage for the upcoming Americas GP.

A race against time

The last cargo plane only took off from Tucuman airport on Wednesday evening, with the material expected to be delivered to teams some time on Thursday. A situation that will see the mechanics of the various teams having to push hard to prepare the bikes in time for Friday’s sessions which, as things stand, remain unchanged.

The tragedy

As if that weren’t enough, the world championship paddock has also been shaken by a tragic event. While the crates were being transported from the Termas circuit to Tucuman airport, a policeman riding a motorcycle lost his life while escorting a fleet of trucks transporting containers destined for Austin.

The lorries got snarled up on the San Cayetano bridge, forcing drivers to break hard. The last in the line was unable to stop in time, hitting policeman Juan Espinoza. The incident took place on Monday 4 April.
